Foaling Services
When breeding seemed like a good idea, but you are not sure how a home-foaling is going to go- we can help. Our in-clinic foaling service takes measures toward the health and safety of the mare and foal. With in-hospital monitoring of the mare as she approaches the end of her pregnancy, assisted foaling with the use of the Foal Alert system, emergency treatment of dystocias and assistance for retained placentas, you can be sure that even if the birth process is complex your mare and new foal are in good hands!

Whether you choose to have the foal delivered at home or in clinic, we offer several post foaling services to make sure that your new foal gets off to a heathy start! Some of these services include a placental exam, a neonatal exam 8-16 hours post foaling, a physical exam, vitamin E/selenium supplementation, complete blood count (CBC) and testing for immunity-passive transfer with an IgG snap test. We also provide supplemental IgG for foals that demonstrate failure of passive transfer (FPT). To find out more about failure of passive transfer in newborn foals, click here
